Homiletic directory: "The homily must be a short sermon and not seem like a lecture or lesson." The passage from Pope Francis' "Evangelii Gaudium", but also the morning homilies at Casa Santa Marta, were the driving force behind a work that the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments had already started at the invitation of the Synod of bishops on the Eucharist, in 2005, and on the basis of Benedict XVI's exhortation "Sacramentum caritatis". The resulting Homiletic Directory is first of all a help, an effective support for priests with practical indications for Advent and the season of Lent and in the case of celebrations where non-Catholics or people who do not usually go to Mass as happens, for example, for weddings and funerals.
